How to Play Through Each Stage in Exhibit of Sorrows

Getting to Know and Explore

As soon as you step into Exhibit of Sorrows, you will feel the bright, cheerful atmosphere like visiting a classic circus fair. Everything is full of color, bustling music and puppets appear with friendly smiles. At this stage, you only need to use basic operations through pressing buttons, pulling puppets’ hands, opening gift boxes or blowing balloons.

Every small action brings a lovely reaction, arousing curiosity and making you want to explore more. This is when you feel safe, believing that you are just visiting an interesting exhibition. But hidden deep under that cheerful mask, something strange awaits.

Changes Appear

After completing a tour, you return to the same exhibit, but something has changed. The lights are dimmed, the colors are colder, and the cheerful music now sounds distorted. The puppets you once controlled now have strange expressions, their eyes are blank, their movements are stiff.

The clown, who was once friendly and guided you, now begins to give you orders in a stern tone. Each mission in the Exhibit Of Sorrows level, which seemed harmless, gradually becomes violent, forcing you to repeat the same actions in a more terrifying setting. Pulling the puppet's hand is no longer a joke, it becomes an obsession as the sounds, images, and the way the puppets react make you realize that you are no longer the controller, but the one being controlled.

Despair and escape

As the story approaches its end, the fun has completely disappeared, giving way to a dark, oppressive, and desperate atmosphere. Now that you have no choice, the clown forces you to follow every instruction, no matter how guilty or horrified you feel.

Some segments require you to sacrifice or destroy the puppets you once helped. Feelings of guilt, fear, and crisis gradually pile up as the exhibition collapses around you. Every action leads to a different outcome: will you escape or will you be trapped forever in the clown's loop?

Various playable characters

Mr. Floaty: a cute little balloon with a smiling face. Your task is to blow and manipulate him to float.
Mr. Washy: a humanoid hand-washing puppet, designed as part of a fun hygiene exhibition. You need to turn on the faucet correctly and help him wash his hands to complete the Exhibit Of Sorrows level.
Ms. Stretch: a character that brings a feeling of both fun and horror. She has extendable arms, which you need to pull to unlock or activate hidden mechanisms.
Mr. Handy: a special puppet with only… hands. He acts as a key holder or activates doors for you to proceed.
The Clown: a threatening force, barking orders in a dry voice, punishing you if you don’t follow.
